The Furniture Scheme and Wrekin Housing Group Bring New Opportunities for Social Enterprise Diversification

Background Info

The Furniture Scheme (a social enterprise and charity set up to provide low cost essential household equipment to those in need) joined Wrekin Housing Group in order to help local residents to gain skills, jobs and furniture.

What did you do?

The Furniture Scheme collaborated with Shropshire Housing Alliance (SHA) to form Reviive – a commercial business that refurbishes unwanted furniture. Reviive, Shropshire housing Alliance, Wrekin Housing Group and The Furniture Scheme joined together to create larger impact within their community. The objective was to: support disadvantaged people within the region, teach skill training around recycling, support social enterprises that provide trainings for the local people, and supporting excluded members of the community in building an independent life.

What did you learn (things to avoid, things to do etc)

This partnership is in the early stages, and both companies have diversified. The partnership has significant scope, and with different areas of expertise, there is great benefit to the partnership.
